Sri Lanka Fundraising

Fundraising for Mrs Mackenzie's retirement project - Muthtettuwegama school is nearing £3000. There will be a further event held in the Glen Urquhart Public hall on Friday from 7.30pm.
The Ceilidh and buffet entry costs are £8 or £3 concessions and all are welcome.

Family Ceilidh

A reminder that tickets are still available from the school office for Josie's Family Ceilidh in Blairbeg Hall on Friday 9th December.
All proceeds will go to the Sri Lanka School fund.
The total raised so far is £2833!
Thank you to everyone who has made this such a huge success.

Sporting news

Natasha Robinson and Joey Cooper represented GUHS at the recent Highland Schools Aquathlon at Alness Academy. They competed in the tougher of the two events, which involved a 400m swim followed by a 3 km run.

William Rose represented GUHS at the recent Highland Schools Swimming Gala at Nairn Swimming Pool competing in the Boys 100 & 200m Freestyle events.

Update of school events

Maternity cover in the Music department:
We welcome Lauren Tait to our music department as maternity cover for Ms Valentine.

Small schools Football - Ardnamurchan:
Our s1-S3 boys travel to Ardnamurchan to compete against other small schools from the south of Highland region. We wish them luck.

October Holidays

October Holidays update


  • School closes @ 3.35pm on the 7th October.

  • Items of lost property that have remained unclaimed for this term will be donated to charity.

  • Swedish Trip departs on the 19th October @ 11am (sharp) and returns on the 23rd @ 8pm (approx).

  • Deadline for UCAS - 15 October deadline: if you're applying for medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine/science, or the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge, your application must be received at UCAS by midnight (UK time) on 15 October 2011.

  • School re-opens on Tuesday 25th October. (In-service for staff on Monday 24th)
